An information session on 'Heart Diseases- Prevention & Management' by Dr R K Jaswal
An informative session on Heart Diseases- Prevention & Management was held for the members of Mohali Senior Citizens Association. Dr R K Jaswal, Director- Dept of Cardiology, interacted with a gathering of over 135 members. This was one of the highest gatherings we had in the auditorium in the recent times.
Dr. Jaswal shared his valuable insights regarding heart diseases, risk factors associated with this disease and its preventive methods. He attributed bad lifestyle to high incidence and risk of developing Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) in India. He further added that high blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose levels, smoking, inadequate intake of fruit and vegetables, obesity and physical inactivity are the risk factors for heart disease. Stress is also a cause of concern, he added. Dr. Jaswal explained the importance of healthy and balanced lifestyles through a number of statistics and examples and also urged the audience to go for annual cardiac checkups.
The session was quite interactive as the audience was very receptive. Dr. Jaswal clarified various queries raised by the audience. This highly interactive and informative session was well appreciated by the audience. The Vice-President of the association presented a bouquet and a handmade thermocol heart which Mr S Chaudhary, Vice-president, made himself.
