A panel discussion Bengal has the heart to donate organs was organised by Fortis Anandapur today to discuss the scope opportunities and future of organ donation in the state vis a vis private hospitals and their role in pushing the envelope.

All the seven heart transplant patients were present on the occasion excepting Anusha Adhikary, who is recuperating at Fortis Hospital. The patients present were Dilchand Singh, Samiran Dutta, Rakhi Mondol, Rakhal Das, Anima Naskar, Tanaya Pandit and Habibur Rahman.

The panelists present for the discussion were Dr. K.M. Mandana- Director, CTVS at Fortis Hospital Anandapur, Dr. Mrinalendu Das- Consultant- CTVS at RTICCS, Dr. Plaban Mukherjee- Professor- CTVS, Calcutta Medical College, Dr. Saurabh Kole- Incharge I.T.U and Depatment of Emergency Medicine at Belle Vue Clinic, Dr Tapas Roychowdury, Dr. Ajoy Kr. Chakraborty  Director of Health Services, West Bengal, Dr. Pradip Kr. Mitra – Director of the Medical Education, West Bengal, Dr. Tamal Kanti Ghosh - Nodal Officer of ROTTO and Dr. Arpita Ray Chaudhury- Joint Director of ROTTO and Professor of Nephrology, IPGMER SSKM.
