Run To Save a Life: Be an Organ Donor

On the inaugural day of PITEX (Punjab International Trade Exposition) i.e. 8th December (Thursday), Fortis Escorts Hospital, Amritsar in association with PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industries organized a 5-KM Run with the objective to raise awareness about Organ Donation. Despite dense Fog and chilling cold, the run witnessed active participation from all walks of life such as students from schools and the nursing colleges, staff of Fortis Escorts Hospital & PHD Chamber and the public were in full of spirits and took part in this noble cause. Flagged off by Mr. Rupinder Singh Sachdeva, Co-Chairman, Punjab Committee of PHDCCI, the run started from Company Bagh and finished up at PITEX Ground, Ranjit Avenue. Dr. Aashish Sharma (Consultant Nephrologist, Fortis Escorts Hospital) briefly talked about the necessity of Organ Donation. More than 600 people participated in this Run. 1st prize was won by Shri Ram Ashram Public School, 2nd prize by Spring Dale School and 3rd prize by DAV Public School. Participants took pledges in donating their organs.
