A talk by Dr Karun Behal on ‘Preventing Heart Diseases’ held for members of Central Govt Pensioners Association
An informative session on ‘Preventing Heart Diseases’ was held for the members of Central Govt Pensioners Association. Dr. Karun Behal, Senior Consultant-Interventional Cardiology interacted with a gathering of more than 45 members. Dr. Behal shared his valuable insights regarding Heart diseases, risk factors associated with this disease and its preventive methods. He attributed the bad lifestyle to high incidence and risk of developing Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) in India.
He further added that high blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose levels, smoking, inadequate intake of fruit and vegetables, obesity and physical inactivity are the risk factors for heart disease. Stress is also a cause of concern, he added. Dr. Behal explained the importance of healthy and balanced lifestyles through a number of statistics and examples and also urged the audience to go for annual cardiac checkups. The session was quite interactive as the audience was very receptive. Dr. Behal clarified various queries raised by the audience. This highly interactive and informative session was well appreciated by the audience.
