World Antibiotic Awareness Week (WAAW) Observed at Fortis Hospital, Mohali
Global awareness on Antibiotics resistance issues remains relatively low. World Antibiotic Awareness Week (WAAW) aims at encouraging best practices among the general public, health workers and policy makers to avoid its further emergence and spread. WAAW takes place every November to promote global education on Antibiotics, how they should be used, and the growing risks.
As a part of ongoing World Antibiotic Awareness Week celebrations, Dr. Shivani Juneja, Clinical Pharmacologist, presented an informative talk on ‘Judicious Usage of Antibiotics- a need of the hour’ to the audience in IPD Lobby. The session aimed at raising public awareness and understanding of Antibiotic resistance. Citing 'Antibiotics a great discovery to mankind, she sensitized the audience to use antibiotics adhering to the prescribed dosage and instructions and not use them at one's own discretion'. The event saw a gathering of nearly 50 people.
