Jaipur, 07 April, 2022: To mark the occasion of World Health Day, Fortis Escorts Hospital Jaipur organized a Health Awareness Programme in association with Digambar Jain Social Group Navkar today. The theme for World Health Day 2022 is ‘Our Planet, Our Health’. In alignment with the theme, team of doctors from Fortis Jaipur comprising of Dr. Ankit Bansal, Pulmonologist; Dr Vikas Gupta, Neurologist and Dr. Amit Sharma, Rheumatologist, discussed about critical health issues.

Dr. Amit Sharma, Senior Consultant, Rheumatology, spoke about arthritis and its various forms. "There is a perception that arthritis occurs only in elderly, however kids and youth also suffer from arthritis. It’s crucial to recognize the early symptoms. Any kind of pain, stiffness, swelling, redness in joints, decreased range of motion, are some of the most common symptoms of arthritis. If a person is suffering from any of these symptoms, they must consult their doctor. Lately, there have been many technological advancements in terms of arthritis’ diagnosis and treatment. Following a healthy regime is crucial to take care of their joints. It’s good to engage in aerobic , stretching exercises to build stronger muscles around joints and make the joints stronger.”

 Dr. Ankit Bansal, Senior Consultant, Pulmonology and Critical Care, discussed about asthma, Covid related illness and smoking-related disorders. Dr. Bansal shared, “During  Covid , it was found that, the asthmatic patients are at higher risk of being exposed to  severe covid infections. So those with asthma and other respiratory problems should be extra cautious during covid times. Smokers need to take extra care of themselves as  all of us know that smoking is one of the leading causes of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).”

Dr. Vikas Gupta, Senior Consultant, Neurology, elaborated on the common symptoms of stroke, risk factors, preventive measures, and what to do if one experiences stroke. “A stroke can occur to anybody of any age, but at the same time, 80 per cent of the stroke attacks can be avoided if one takes care of the major risk factors. There is a dire need to recognize early  stroke symptoms and seek medical help within the next 4.5 hours, as getting medical attention during these golden hours can benefit more than 60 per cent of the stroke patients.”

Around 80 members of Digambar Jain Social Group participated in this event. Mr. PC Jain, President, Digambar Jain Social Group, who was also part of this occasion, said “With the changing times, and the increase in environmental changes, it’s  better for all of us that we take good care of our health.  A lot of people face serious health issues nowadays, and only with the help of better awareness, people would be able to take better care of themselves. We really hope these tips and awareness shared by the expert team of doctors helps everyone present here today."
